Whitechapel Room Escape takes us to 19th century London, where Jack the Ripper terrorized the population by carving up five poor prostitutes. It seems that a new murderer has been inspired by these chilling events and is once again spreading panic in this London neighborhood.
The start of the game will come from the hand of Sam, a mysterious (and somewhat creepy) blind man, who will put you in a situation and explain what you have to do. The room is very well decorated and the sound and visual effects create the perfect atmosphere to get scared.
We loved the different enigmas, as well as a distribution of the space that allows to eliminate the architectural barriers between the players and the murderer (evil laughter). When you play, you’ll understand why.
It’s a luxury to be able to play in a room with a soul, as we like to say. At all times we saw the love and dedication that the creators, Isaac and Josep, have put into the room. The game masters were super nice to us and we had a very entertaining post-game talk with them.
If you are a lover of the crime novel and you love the Gothic atmosphere of London, don’t miss this room. It is destined to become one of the Catalan capital’s horror classics, as thanks to a powerful word-of-mouth effect it has made its way into all the genre’s rankings. In addition, Whitechapel Room Escape can be played twice, ask about it on your way out for more details. But be prepared to get REALLY frightened.
- The atmosphere.
- Nothing in particular.
And if you manage to escape from Whitechapel you can complete your plan as follows:
Carrer de l’Oblit 3, Barcelona
Welcoming Chinese restaurant where the owner, Mr. Chang, entertains the audience with his excellent magic tricks (those with playing cards were jaw-dropping).
The food is super nice and the price is very affordable. The star dish are the handmade Manchurian noodles with mushroom, awesome! Let the chef recommend you the dishes to pick as he’s usually right.
Carrer de Garcilaso 172, Barcelona
Restaurant of signature tapas where you can also eat salads, molletes (somewhat similar to English muffins) or fried eggs with broken yolks. The food is great and the price is very reasonable. However, the place is very small so it is better to book a table or you will have to wait in line.
